Tracy Reed, owner of Summerville Stables, didn’t grow up with horses, but she always dreamed of them. That dream became reality at age 12, when her parents surprised her with Goldie, a buckskin mare who changed everything. “Every Saturday, my parents would drop me off at the barn, and I’d spend the entire day riding, brushing, and just being with her,” Tracy says. “That’s where my love for horses really began.”

Horses have been a constant in Tracy’s life ever since. Over the years, she has built her experience through hands-on learning, curiosity, and a deep commitment to understanding horse behavior. Today, she runs Summerville Stables, where she focuses on developing safe, respectful, and confident horses and helping riders feel the same way.

About twelve years ago, Tracy found herself searching for better ways to support her daughter and their horses, especially when working with a horse that needed clearer communication and stronger foundations. Through focused groundwork and consistency, she began to see meaningful changes. “The horses became calmer, more responsive, and safer to handle,” she explains. “That was a turning point for me.”

Naturally driven to learn, Tracy immersed herself in horsemanship education, applying what she learned with her own horses and later with others. Over time, she developed an approach rooted in trust, clarity, and patience—principles she now brings to every horse and client she works with.

At Summerville Stables, Tracy’s goal is simple: to help people enjoy their horses with confidence. “You can’t build confidence without safety,” she says. “When horses understand what’s being asked of them and people feel secure, everything gets better, from the partnership to the experience.
